    SPINOZA'S ETHICAL MAN

    RESUMEN La filosofia de Spinoza fue expuesta en su obra mas representativa Etica: Demostrada segun el orden geometrico, la cual fue publicada en 1677, el mismo ano de su muerte. Esta no tiene otro objetivo que orientar al hombre de hoy en la comprension de si mismo a traves de la comprension de los afectos. Es por ello que esta reflexion se orienta a partir de lo que propone Spinoza: “No se trata de eliminar los afectos sino mas bien de orientarlos por el buen camino”. Este analisis se llevara a cabo en cuatro momentos: en primer lugar, la importancia de la etica en Spinoza; en segundo lugar, el papel de los afectos; en tercer lugar, la necesidad de llegar a una ABSTRACT Spinoza’s philosophy was exposed in his most significant text Ethica Ordine Geometrico Demonstrata (The Ethics) published in 1677, the same year in which the author passed away. There is no other aim in this book than to guide the man of our days to the understanding of himself through the comprehension of the affections. That is the reason why the following reflection is directed by Spinoza’s sentence: “It is not about eliminating the affections but to direct them to the right path”. The analysis will be divided in four stages: firstly, the importance of the ethics in Spinoza’s philosophy; secondly, the role of the affections; thirdly, the necessity of achieving an understanding of them; and
