    Relationship between socioeconomical status and gastritis in adults consulting at the IAHULA Merida. In the present investigation was studied the association between socioeconomic status and the occurrence of different types of gastritis in 66 adult, of both sex, is between 20 at 90 years, with gastritis and in 16 patients, of both sex, is between 20 at 90 years of age, without gastritis who attended the Service of Gastroenterology of the Autonomous Institute University Hospital of the Andes (IAHULA). The diagnosis of gastritis was based on clinical studies, endoscopic appearance of the gastric mucosa and biopsy of antral tissue. Socioeconomic status was evaluated by the method of Graffar modified. There were not significant differences when relating age, sex and presence of gastritis. Statistical analysis showed an association statistically significant (p <0.002) between socioeconomic status and presence of gastritis. Superficial and erosive gastritis are prevailing in the lowest social strata IV (labor class) and V (marginal class), strate where are in a more marked way the predisposing factors to the early appearance of the illness.
