Capacidad de sellado de un adhesivo y una resina infiltrante con pretratamiento del sustrato en caries radiculares artificiales
    (2020) C B Paula Baralt; Robert Ramírez
Root caries is considered frequently in older adults. The microinvasive treatment method includes sealing with adhesives or infiltration with resins to inhibit progression. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sealing capacity of an adhesive and an infiltrating resin with pretreatment of chlorhexidine in artificial root caries. An experimental, ex vivo research was carried out. 10 human third molars were selected. Each one was made 4 windows, the first one was not demineralized, the second was demineralized without treatment, the third was treated with Prime & Bond 2.1® and the fourth treated with Icon®. The samples were subjected to manual thermocycling and stained with methylene blue. High resolution images were obtained and the penetration of the pigment in Adobe Photoshop CS® 6.0 was measured. The statistical analysis was performed with a univariate ANOVA and Tukey HSD and Dunnett tests with a level of significance p=0.05. The average DIAGNOdent® values increased in enamel and in dentine after demineralization. The substrate and window level showed statistically significant differences, with greater microfiltration in the dentin, while no significant difference was observed between the windows treated with adhesive and those treated with Icon®. The pretreatment showed no differences in the microfiltration and no significant difference was observed in the microfiltration between the sealing and the infiltration in artificial radicular caries. Pretreatment with 2% chlorhexidine does not influence the sealing ability of the adhesive or the infiltrating resin.
