Item type: Item , Experiencia quirúrgica en aneurismas cerebrales intervenidos en el IAHULA, Mérida Venezuela, entre Enero de 2008 a Diciembre de 2015(2017) Luigi Romano Flores; Angela Nieto; Maria Chiara Corti; Daniela Salas; David Zumztein; Douglas Almeida; Pablo VásconezAneurysms are abnormal and permanent dilation of blood vessels of a waste product of the laminar flow and vascular endothelial integrity that can occur anywhere in the arterial system by a congenital or acquired condition. Brain Aneurysms (BA) have a prevalence of 5% in the general population and although not clinically apparent in most patients, are responsible for a high rate of morbidity and mortality, secondary to rupture of the same. The microneurosurgery craniotomy and aneurysm clipping is the classic technique as a treatment. However in recent decades endovascular treatment has emerged as a relatively new and less invasive surgical option. The objective of this study is to describe epidemiological characteristics and clinical conditions at admission and preoperative according to Hunt-Hess standards, Fisher and Glasgow, the characteristics of aneurysms and the context post and trans surgical of 56 cases of AC diagnosed in IAHULA Merida – Venezuela in the period from January / 2008 to December / 2015, of which 35 were operated with clipping technique. We conclude that the technique microneurosurgical clipping of AC remains a safe option and if it is done a timely manner it provides a rate of morbidity and mortality that it allows keeping this therapeutic approach given the impossibility of some health centers in our environment to provide endovascular treatment.
