In the context of University Higher Education, assessment is the main axis of the formative process and it has the vital junction in the teaching – learning process. It is constituted in the tool that allows us to assess the level of the students’ achieve- ments from the acquired learning in their formative process.Therefore, the current work proposes the theoretical fundament required for assessing the learning achievements competency-based in the University Higher Education context. The main objective of the article is to perform a bibliographic revision about the assessment of learning process based on competences. The applied methodology is based on the bibliographic review of specialized literature in higher education area. The database of the selected information is consulted in ERIC, REDINED, DIALNET and academic Google.Item type: Item , Modelo de evaluación de aprendizajes por competencias en la Universidad Privada Domingo Savio – Sede Sucre(2021) Franz Amurrio CubaThe research developed establishes a model for the evaluation of learning by competences at the Domingo Savio Private University - Headquarters Sucre, for which a descriptive, documentary and field type study was carried out, supported by research methods at the theoretical, empirical and statistical levels, respectively. , by means of the application of a questionnaire to teachers and students with the purpose of characterizing the current situation of the evaluation in the university and contrasting this with the documentary analysis carried out on the evaluation in the university context. The results obtained revealed a marked tendency toward traditional evaluation, a situation that contrasts with the current trends of evaluation innovation from the competency approach. This contradiction is overcome in the investigation based on a proposal of evaluation model by competences, validated by the expert’s criterion, which allows to make a true and authentic assessment of the competences developed by the students, in the cognitive, affective and social.
