    Efectividad de diferentes mecánicas para retracción de dientes anteriores: una revisión sistemática

    The purpose of this systematic review was to examine the effectiveness of different mechanics for retraction of anterior teeth. the data were collected from electronic databases (PubMed, Biblioteca virtual en salud, Hinari, Cochrane Reviews, Lilacs, Redalyc and American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics). A hand search of key orthodontic journals (American journal of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, The angle orthodontist, International journal of adult orthodontics and orthognathic surgery, Journal of clinical orthodontics, Journal of orthodontics / British orthodontic) was performed to identify recent unindexed literature. Prospective studies and randomized clinical trials concerning different methods for retraction of anterior teeth were considered. The titles and abstracts that appeared to fulfill the initial selection criteria were collected, and the original articles were evaluated with the methods described by Feldman and Bondemark. were identified 44 relevant articles, 31 were excluded after assessment of titles and abstracts. Subsequently, 13 articles were deemed appropriate to meet the inclusion criteria, however, 7 articles were rejected by poor methodological quality. Only 6 articles met the inclusion criteria and were considered for evaluation in the review. Elastomeric chains produced a similar rate of retraction springs nickel-titanium 150g and 200g. The springs are more effective space closure versus recoil modules with active ligatures.

    Retención durante el tratamiento temprano.

    In this review some of the devices used for early treatment in children are described, and the retention phase is analyzed as an important step in maintaining the efforts and results obtained during the active treatment phase. Retention and fixation are considered the main pillars in multiple disciplines of dentistry not only in orthodontics. Interceptive orthodontic treatments often consist of a series of actions, steps and measures to solve the problems of developing dental, muscular, or skeletal, of growing patients; reducing the need for complex orthodontic treatment that may include permanent teeth extractions or orthognathic surgery.
