Item type: Item , Combinación de ortopedia-ortodoncia en el tratamiento de Clase III esqueletal en paciente adulto(2008) Trina Mylena García; A Carlos Martínez; I G Gladys Carrero; Liliana Ablan BortoneTherefore this study provides a new method to solve the discrepancies and to generalize the functional role of SM proteins. I G Gladys Carrero; Lía Belandria; Marco Aurelio Pardo; Ingrid Mora; Gloria BautistaThe purpose of this study was to determine the dimensional variations of the torque of new stainless steel brackets, straight wire technique, with Roth prescription, of three different companies. A total of 360 brackets were chosen as the sample by a probability method; 120 of them from Ortho USA (Luminus), 120 from Ormco (Mini Twin) and 120 from Rocky Mountain Orthodontics, which were divided by dental group according to the dental arch (upper and lower) and differences in torque of the brackets from each commercial firms. The tolerance range was only established for the commercial firms Ortho USA, according to information provided by the manufacturer was ± 1°. The results show that for Ortho USA, torque values obtained in the dental groups of upper and lower canines, lower incisors and second premolars were close to the nominal values. For Ormco, torque values of dental groups lower canines and second premolars were the furthest from the nominal value, with a variation of 2 °. For Rocky Mountain Orthodontics the averages of all dental groups were very close to the nominal value. The brackets studied showed varying degrees of imprecision for excess or defect for the only company that declared its tolerance. The brackets of the commercial firms that didn’t report their tolerance appeared more accurately, but the lack of the requested information does not allow to extend the conclusions beyond the brackets measured. Item type: Item , Retenedores utilizados durante la fase de contención en ortodoncia(2016) I G Gladys Carrero; Lía BelandriaMultiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) consist of several autosomal- dominantly inherited syndromes that are expressed as endocrinopathies. The highly penetrant germline mutations predispose patients to tumor development in hormone-secreting cells. In MEN type 1, mutations in the tumor suppressor gene MEN1 increase the risk of developing pituitary, parathyroid and pancreatic islet tumors, whereas in MEN type 2, mutations of the proto-oncogene RET increase the risk for medullary thyroid carcinoma, parathyroid tumors and pheochromocytoma. Identification of marfanoid habitus and mucosal neuromas allow to differentiate MEN type 2B from type 2A. Accurate clinical diagnosis of individuals and families at risk of harboring a germline RET mutation is critical for the prevention and management of potentially life-threatening neoplasms. This review summarizes the clinical description of MEN type 1 and type 2, as well as, diagnosis, pathogenesis, testing strategies, and aspects for genetic counseling.
