Manifestaciones clínicas bucales de la enfermedad celiaca
(2016) Karen Maggiorani; Ángel Gabriel Rincón
Celiac disease is systemic disorder due to a permanent intolerance to gluten proteins and sometimes affects the oral cavity. The aim of this work is based on describing the main clinical manifestations in the oral cavity in patients with celiac disease reported by the literature in recent years. Patients with celiac disease may have some of the following manifestations: enamel abnormalities, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, glossitis atrophic, dental caries, delayed eruption, angular cheilitis, lichen planus, xerostomia and geographic tongue. In all cases they have higher prevalence of any condition with respect to healthy subjects. They conclude that celiac patients are more likely to have oral lesions and the dentist should be alert to alert and guide the patient with specialists in gastroenterology to make the necessary tests to rule out celiac disease as the possible cause of the presence of any of the oral alterations mentioned.
