Quispe-FloresWe investigate numerically the effects of external time-periodic potentials on time-localized perturbations to the amplitude of electromagnetic waves propagating in normal-dispersion fiber lasers which are described by the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation. Two main effects were found: The formation of domains enclosed by two maxima of the external periodic field and the generation of a chaotic behavior of these domains in the region of relatively high amplitudes and low frequencies of the external fields.
