Morphological characteristics to distinguish this species from Pleurothallis bicornis, P. subreniformis and P. torrana are presented. The micromorphology of the lip of the new species was studied utilizing scanning electron microscopy. Labellar micromorphology is discussed in relation to putative pollination mechanisms.Item type: Item , Dos especies nuevas de Pleurothallis y un nuevo nombre para Acronia rinkei(2017) Alfonso Doucette; Mark Wilson; José Portilla; Andreas Kay; Juan Sebastián Moreno; Kenneth M. CameronNew species of Pleurothallis from Panama, Pleurothallis anthurioides, and from Ecuador, Pleurothallis kaynagata, are described and illustrated. The new species are distinguished based on their morphological distinctness from similar species. Pleurothallis kaynagata represents a new addition to Pleurothallis sect. Abortivae, which was previously thought to be monotypic. Acronia rinkei is transferred to Pleurothallis and provided with a new name, Pleurothallis neorinkei, and locality data.
