HLH is associated with autoimmune diseases, infections, malignancy, immunosuppression, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HLH has a high risk of progression to multi-organ disfunction syndrome (MODS) including acute kidney injury (AKI).HLH usually presents as an acute or subacute febrile illness associated with multiple organ involvement.
