    This article examines the brief but pivotal rule of Cuitlahuatzin, successor of Moctezuma II, during the Mexica resistance to the Spanish invasion. The author analyzes his political actions and military strategies at a critical moment in Tenochtitlan's history, emphasizing his pragmatic leadership and ability to reorganize Indigenous forces. Both Indigenous and colonial sources are reviewed to reconstruct his role as a strategist and symbol of resistance
