    ACEITE DE CARAPA GUIANENSIS (ANDIROBA): EVALUACIÓN PARA USO FARMACÉUTICO / OIL OF CARAPA GUIANENSIS (ANDIROBA): EVALUATION FOR PHARMACEUTICAL USE

    El objetivo del presente trabajo fue desarrollar y evaluar tecnologicamente emulsiones empleando el aceite de Andiroba, proveniente de la Republica de Guyana. Fueron elaboradas emulsiones directas con diferentes mezclas de surfactantes no ionicos (Span 20®, Tween 20® y Tween 80®). Las emulsiones seleccionadas como mas estables a partir de su evaluacion macroscopica, fueron almacenadas a temperatura ambiente y refrigeracion, estudiando su estabilidad durante seis meses a traves de la medicion del pH, conductividad, indice de cremado, turbidez y observacion microscopica. Adicionalmente se evaluo la actividad antimicrobiana del aceite de Carapa guianensis y las emulsiones seleccionadas. Los sistemas emulsificados con Tween 20® y Span 20® fueron mas estables que los que tenian Tween 80® y Span 20®, mostrando como inestabilidad fundamental el cremado. La estabilidad de las emulsiones aumento con el valor del HLBn del sistema y fue mayor en condiciones de refrigeracion. Segun las condiciones del estudio, se propone como HLBn del aceite entre 15 y 16, lo que se corresponde a resultados previos. Se demostro que en las condiciones ensayadas, el aceite y las emulsiones tenian actividad antimicrobiana, predominantemente antifungica. Abstract The objective of the present work was to develop and evaluate technologically emulsions using Andiroba oil, from the Republic of Guyana. Direct emulsions were made with different blends of nonionic surfactants (Span 20®, Tween 20® and Tween 80®). The emulsions selected as being more stable from their macroscopic evaluation were stored at room temperature and refrigeration, studying their stability for six months through the measurement of pH, conductivity, cremation index, turbidity and microscopic observation. Additionally, the antimicrobial activity of Carapa guianensis oil and the selected emulsions were evaluated. The systems emulsified with Tween 20® and Span 20® were more stable than those with Tween 80® and Span 20®, showing as fundamental instability the cremation. The stability of the emulsions increased with the HLBn value of the system and was higher under refrigeration conditions. According to the study conditions, it is proposed as HLBn of the oil between 15 and 16, which corresponds to previous results. It was shown that under the conditions tested, the oil and emulsions had antimicrobial activity, predominantly antifungal. Keywords: Emulsion, HLB, Andiroba oil, stability.
