At methodological and theoretical work sessions, a multidisciplinary group designed the museology and museography of the exposition. The objectives, the scientific information and texts were elaborated. Expeditions to collect epiphytes (orchids, ferns and bromeliads) were set out at Guanahacabibes National Park, Pinar del Rio Botanic Garden and at Soroa Orquid Garden. The plants (exponents) were classified. The exhibit was set up in two sections: in the terrace (where living specimens were put up) and in the gallery (with photos and scientific drawings). This exhibition hall shows the organic and physical structure of the natural ecosystems where epiphytes live in, their dynamics of life, and the interdependent relations among organisms and their physical and biological environment. Updated scientific information on the ecology of epiphytes is facilitated, and the value of human attitude is highlighted, when consistent with the demands for survival and sustainability of the ecosystems where epiphytism is developed. The exhibition has attracted the public to the museum, to the world of epiphytes, and to its caring and conservation. The evaluation of the impacts of the exposition reflects satisfaction on the visitors. The exhibition constitutes a didactic-educational alternative to favour the enrichment of environmental culture, consciousness and sensitivity in the public.Item type: Item , Floristic treasures of Pinar del Rio at the Graden Hall in the Natural History Museum «Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda»(2015) Tamara Abrante Hernández; Fernando Rey Martínez; Leonardo Ramírez Medina; Yenisey Camero Labrador; Gilberto Barrera RamosThe Garden Hall at the Natural History Museum «TranquilinoSandalio de Noda» an institution belonging to ECOVIDA, allows visitors to enjoy the floristic treasures of the Pinar del Rio province ecosystems. As a result of the investigation project funded by the National Environment Fund of Cuba a complete restoration of the exhibition halls was implemented, developing an environment that features ancient ecosystems and showing the evolution of the Planet Earth. Therefore it was necessary to renovate and allocation of natural vegetation representing that period of the evolution. To reinforce the environmental education program it was put into practice a new didactic concept, a museologic and museographic script was conceived as a scientific and methodological document as well as the implementation of a training program for the museum guides and it was implemented a program of environmental education for the schools in the local community. As a result, the restored Garden Hall at the Museum became in a education and didactic toll allowing public to appreciate the natural floristic treasures of the province, improving their environmental culture, concern and sensibility.Item type: Item , Hagamos Educación Ambiental.
