dc.description.abstractFrom the experience provided by community service college student in the Nucleo Universitario “Rafael Rangel” at the Universidad de Los Andes, a similar activity was proposed to be carried out in the geology course that is tought in agricultural, civil, and geological engineering, and in education majoring in geography and earth sciences in this institution. As the subject of study, the block of content regarding the rocks (igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary) was selected. The participants were the neighbor Hood communities of the El Limon in Trujillo and Lazo de La Vega in Valera, sharing both academic and popular knowledge, and considering alternative solutions to geotechnical problems present in the comunities associated with the quality of life and type of rock present in the sector. It is recommended the implememtation of such activities to achieve increased university – community contact.
