Protozoos intestinales en pacientes que acuden al ambulatoria rural Monay, estado Trujillo - Venezuela

Abstract
To evaluate the prevalence of intestinal protozoon in patients of the Rural Hospital Monay in Trujillo State, was assessed a copro-parasitological survey in 400 patients between September and October 2008, who were to the hospital for different medical causes. Stool samples were obtained by spontaneous evacuations and analyzed by direct examination with a 0,85% solution of NaCl and lugol and formol – ether concentration method. Of total of samples evaluated more than 50% were positives to intestinal protozoon (237 samples). Giardia lamblia was more frequent protozoa (37%), followed of the complex Entamoeba histolytica/ Entamoeba dispar with 30%. Finally Blastocystis hominis was present in 26% of parasitized samples, whilst Entamoeba coli was in 5% y Endolimax nana in 2% of the evaluated samples. In 78, 9% of positives samples was just one protozoon parasite and in 21,09% were more than one protozoon parasite.
