dc.description.abstractThe main goal of this paper is to present a historical study of the Anthropology of Health and Illness, since the pioneers and precursors of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, until its consolidation as a subdiscipline within of anthropology in middle of last century. At the same time it does an analysis of its three main theoretical approaches, namely ecological, interpretive and critical, concluding with reciprocal questioning between them, which has enriched in recent years the understanding of the health-disease process.
