Caracterización morfológica de Beauveria bassiana, aislada de diferentes insectos en Trujillo - Venezuela

Abstract

Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungus that belongs to the class Deuteromycetes, according to the morphology of the reproductive structure and is commonly found infesting a large number of species of insects, so it is considered one of the most important insect pathogens. Dead insects infected with Beauveria species, have a very dense white coating formed by the mycelium and sporulation of the fungus. For this reason the objective of this study was the morphological characterization of ten isolates of Beauveria spp., from insects found in Trujillo State. Monospore culture were made from the ten (10) isolates from different hosts and placed in the potato-dextrose agar (PDA) for growth. To measure the size of the spores were conducted in growth chambers in order to the structures of the fungus were retained in its layout and natural size. On the third day 100 spores were measured per isolate with ocular micrometer installed in the optical microscope. For cultural characterization observations were made at 13 days after growing the ten (10) isolates on PDA, describing features such as color, edge of the colony appearance and pigmentation of the medium. Observations at the microscope allowed characterization of spores of the ten (10) isolates as belonging to the species morphologically B. bassiana
