Percepción del manejo de residuos solidos urbanos en el municipio Valera, Trujillo - Venezuela
Abstract
Urban communities in developing countries generate daily Residual Solid Waste (RSW), causing
nationwide environmental and public health problems. In order to know the perception of RSW
management and relate them to: the educational level and socio-economic, the amount in kg/inhabitant/
day and characteristics of RSW, a descriptive study, transverse, correlational and non-experimental
was made in Valera municipality, state of Trujillo (Venezuela). Was selected a sample of 206 users
of the service of the Urban Service of the Valera municipality and applied to them a questionnaire of
closed answers. For the analysis of data was used SPSS 18 and Chi2 test for dependence or not of the
variables studied. Among the most important fi nds were found dependence between the educational level
and the perception of the problems causing the RSU (p = 0.003). There are receptivity in select MSW and
layout to start with recycling.
