dc.description.abstractThis research aims to contribute to the management of universities providing a framework that can serve as a guide for the development of human talent, the goal is to present a program for the development of management skills aimed at the heads of units at the University of the Andes, Nucleo Universitario “Rafael Rangel” Trujillo. The study meets a level of descriptive research - projective, a non-experimental fi eld design. The population was Nucleo Universitario “Rafael Rangel” and proceeded to the calculation of a probabilistic sample. As a technique for collecting survey information was used as a measuring instrument and two (2) made questionnaires with closed questions and a Likerts cale, applied to ten (10) heads of units and fi fty-fi ve (55) employees who are part of professional and administrative support to subordinate commanders. The study arrogated the variable results Management Skills is moderately effective at a level that is associated behaviors Communication, Planning and Management, Teamwork, Strategic Action, Globalization and Personnel Management have a gap between the level required in managerial performance of the unit leaders and what they actually show respect to the powers laid. From these results the structure of the development program management skills including educational activities that can be implemented by the institution and stakeholders, such as the Training and Self Development.
