Net is a communication middleware based on the OMG DDS standard that supports real-time monitoring, unicast, groupcast, and broadcast to thousands of mobile nodes. This work replaced the DDS (Data Distribution Service) infrastructure used to communicate the ContextNet Core nodes with the Kafka platform; simplified the construction of applications that use the ContextNet middleware; and added new features. Kafka is a streaming platform capable of subscribing, publishing, storing, and processing in realtime streams. Using Kafka has enabled applications built on top of ContextNet to be parallelizable.
