The description regarding the application of natural products as adjunctive treatments for periodontal disease is required. A great variety of natural products with multiple beneficial effects (anti-inflammatory, healing, antibiotics, anesthetics) that can contribute to the recovery of periodontal tissues are used. It was carried out a compilation of all written information previously collected and analyzed by other authors about 5 selected products (Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Plantain, Tomato Plant, Propolis) that provided sufficient information regarding complementary natural products for periodontal diseases. As a result we obtained the effectiveness of all plants on periodontal diseases. Among its properties, the anti-inflammatory effect of the Aloe Vera was highlighted as an adjunctive treatment for periodontitis. Chamomile is attributed antimicrobial activity against pathogens associated with periodontal disease. Plantain has an anti-inflammatory property offering a great benefit to canker sores and periodontal disease. The Propolis has an anti-inflammatory, anesthetic and healing effect on the periodontium, and Tomato plant only has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. According to previously reviewed scientific studies, natural products could be a pharmacological alternative to oral diseases such as gingivitis and periodontal disease, offering satisfactory results.esAloe veraAntimicrobialGingivitisPropolisMedicinePeriodontitisPeriodontal diseasePeriodontiumAntisepticTraditional medicineEfectividad de productos naturales como tratamiento de enfermedades periodontalesarticle
