Objective: to determine the effectiveness of treatments to correct TMJ luxation based on a systematic review of the literature. Methods: search engines were used: Medline through Pubmed, PMC and NCBI through Pubmed, Elsevier (ScienceDirect),theCochrane Library, the VHLLibrary, considering systematic reviews, meta-analysis,and clinical trials. Results: the electronic search yielded 905 articles, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria a total of 91 articles were obtained forthis systematic review. After having been read,46 were selected: 12 systematic reviews, 32 clinical trials and 2 meta-analyses, which were classifiedinto two categories, surgical and non-surgical treatments. Conclusions: splints proved to be the most effective non-surgical treatment as it reduces pain intensity, is anti-inflammatory, non-invasive, increases mouth opening and is effective in the long term.esMedicineArthrocentesisTemporomandibular jointInclusion and exclusion criteriaMEDLINESplintsSystematic reviewClinical trialDentistrySurgeryEfectividad de los tratamientos para corregir la luxación temporomandibular.
