Descriptions of macroscopicalfeatures are done, and an identification key based on diagnostic features is proposed. 52 %of studied taxa are identified. The most important features for identification are: porosity, ripples marks, included phloem, radial canals and banded parenchyma. Other usefulfeatures are vessels grouping and arrangement. The key proved to be difficult to use withfresh samples so we recommend its application to dry samples.esIdentification keyGeographyKey (lock)PhloemTaxonIdentification (biology)BiologyForestryHumanitiesClave para identificación macroscópica de la madera para 86 especies de la reserva forestal caparo (Barinas, Venezuela)article
