These rules legalized prostitution and subjected it to state control. From this perspective, it analyzes how female prostitution operated outside the law, with special attention to ways of transgressing the rules on public health. It also evaluates the strategies used by prostitutes to remain inside or outside the legal frameworks in place. Finally, it examines the situation and experiences of underage prostitutes.enHumanitiesGeographyArtVivir en los márgenes: la prostitución clandestina en Quito, décadas de 1920 a 1960article
