This is a quantitative research study with a quasiexperimental research design. A specific test (objective) of five items included a mathematics problem-solving question methodology, which was, in turn, based on the highschool mathematics syllabus. Results suggest that students are not skilled to translate natural language mathematics problems into algebraic expressions. Therefore, some relevant recommendations to teachers and students are made aiming at downgrading difficulties in this regard.esSyllabusMathematics educationNatural (archaeology)Natural languageTest (biology)PedagogyPsychologyMathematicsComputer scienceTransformación del lenguaje natural al lenguaje algebraico en educación media generalarticle
