Para ello, se adoptó un enfoque mixto con un diseño descriptivo simple. Se encuestó a 50 estudiantes mediante un cuestionario con 40 preguntas distribuidas en 4 dimensiones (conceptos básicos, 3R, etapas de manejo y código de colores). Los resultados evidenciaron que el 36 % de los estudiantes tienen un nivel deficiente de conocimiento, el 24 % regular, el 30 % bueno y el 10 % excelente. Las mayores dificultades se encontraron en las dimensiones: conceptos básicos, etapas del manejo y código de colores, mientras que la dimensión de las 3R mostró mejores niveles. Se concluye que los estudiantes poseen conocimientos desfavorables sobre esta temática, entonces existe la necesidad de reforzar la educación ambiental desde la escuela y el hogar.This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge that fifth-grade primary school students have about solid waste management in a public school in Peru. A mixed-methods approach with a simple descriptive design was used. Fifty students were surveyed using a questionnaire with 40 questions distributed across four dimensions: basic concepts, the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), stages of waste management, and the color-coding system. The results showed that 36% of the students had insufficient knowledge, 24% had moderate knowledge, 30% had good knowledge, and 10% had excellent knowledge. The greatest difficulties were found in the dimensions of basic concepts, stages of waste management, and the color-coding system, while the 3R dimension showed better results.
