Caracterización de indicadores para determinar el contexto realístico y los niveles de sostenibilidad del equipamiento e infraestructura ubicados en Parques Nacionales de montaña. Caso los Andes Venezolanos.

La presente investigacion ha tenido como objetivos principales realizar un diagnostico de la situacion actual de la infraestructura y del equipamiento existente en el Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada dedicado a prestar servicios turisticos, y caracterizar un conjunto de indicadores para evaluar el equipamiento e infraestructura existente en el parque. Con el fin ultimo de que se pueda contar con la informacion necesaria y util que permita a las instituciones publicas y privadas formular politicas, planes y programas con miras al logro del desarrollo de un turismo local sostenible, aplicable a nivel nacional, ademas de formar parte de la informacion que fundamentara el diseno futuro de una Hoja de Ruta de los parques nacionales de Venezuela. Los indicadores propuestos se caracterizaron en cuatro categorias: medio ambiente natural; condiciones de infraestructura y equipamiento para servicios turisticos; aspectos tecnico-constructivo de la infraestructura y equipamiento y; entorno socio-economico. A su vez, es necesario considerar los principios del turismo sostenible en toda la cadena de gestion de la actividad turistica; entre ellos, en las ofertas de planes vacacionales y las condiciones del equipamiento e infraestructura de los sitios de interes turistico. Programas de educacion ambiental dirigidos a pobladores y visitantes para generar conductas respetuosas con el medio ambiente; y programas de recuperacion y mantenimiento del espacio fisico natural y el espacio construido.

Landscaping is an area of professional knowledge that currently warrants its recognition and a higher profile in the planning and management of a natural and urban territory, especially in industrial developing countries. Venezuela needs a higher number of specialists in this area with academic and practical training, however, only the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Central University of Venezuela, offers appropriate courses within its wide range of undergraduate, specialization and master's degrees. Given that the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Sciences of the University of Los Andes, is the only one of its kind in the country and has more than sixty years of history, in addition to a multiplicity of experts in the different areas of science and technology in the forestry and environmental sector, a course on Landscaping and Arboriculture was recently created within the Department of Forests of the School of Forest Engineering of the aforementioned institution. This will lay the methodological foundations, as well as the integration and exchange of knowledge between different highly qualified professionals in the areas of urban planning, architecture, forestry, civil engineering, among others. It is a hope for the future to increase the possibilities of employment of these professionals graduating from the University of Los Andes and, with it, promoting the creation of specialized private companies that manage and improve the urban landscape of Venezuelan cities. In the cities, the road networks, parks, squares, residential developments, hotels and businesses, among others, lack good landscaping and arboriculture initiatives. Therefore, in order to integrate the knowledge of the academics involved, it was agreed to initiate the conceptual academic work of the landscaping and arboriculture subject with the development of a proposal for the Botanical Garden Palmetum of the World in the United Arab Emirates, which is an example of urban and architectural development, with cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and where impressive tourist infrastructures of a unique nature have been built.
Ecodiseño de líneas de mueble Guayana e Imataca a partir de madera de especies forestales maderables de la Reserva Forestal Imataca

Este proyecto se articula en el contexto del Manejo Forestal Sostenible, al enfocarse en el Ecodiseno de productos de valor agregado y alto valor agregado con las propuestas de diseno de mobiliario y su evaluacion de impacto ambiental, utilizando la metodologia de Analisis de Ciclo de Vida ACV-Coclowen y las tecnicas de decision multicriterio, para determinar la ecoeficiencia en su desarrollo y produccion industrial. Como parte del planteamiento metodologico se realizo una revision bibliografica para poder conseguir una vision global de los temas relacionados con la investigacion, asi como tambien analizar antecedentes de disenos de mobiliario. Se desarrollaron las propuestas de Ecodiseno de mueble aplicando los principios de la Rueda de la Sostenibilidad. Para el diseno a detalle, se utilizaron las herramientas de diseno 2D y 3D, lo que permitio desarrollar un aporte pragmatico con las lineas de mobiliario, denominadas Guayana y Imataca; las cuales, pueden canalizar la contribucion para lograr el uso sostenible del recurso madera y su potencial influencia en el desarrollo economico de las empresas del sector del mobiliario en la region de Guayana, con la participacion de las comunidades locales criollas e indigenas del area de influencia de la Reserva Forestal Imataca. The preservation of the human species capable of enjoying a good quality of life, both in urban and rural settings, under the basis of balanced socio-economic growth and development in harmony with the natural environment, requires the explicit commitment of society of realising a transcendental and historic vision. This visionrequires the systemic action of the key actors in order to end social inequality, environmental transgressions and the urbanization of natural ecosystems. These are real threats that demand immediate action, in order to guarantee the survival of the natural ecosystems of the upper and middle basins of the Montalban and La Portuguesa streams, which supply most of the water available to the City of Ejido. Thus, in this paper we outline the proposal of an ABRAE and a Metropolitan, Ecological, Recreational, Educational and Productive Park for Ejido. This is an appeal to the conscience of all decision- makers in the Municipality of Campo Elias who can enact change. The geographical area surrounding these important micro basins belonging to the Chama River and the Albarregas River is located in a transitional area between the ruraland the urban. Therefore, any development of the area needs a philosophical and technical approach based on the principles of sustainable urban/rural development, territorial ordering of river basins and urban planning; also a vision of the territory under study, which is fully integrated and interrelated to the development proposals outlined for the Metropolitan Area of the City of Merida, which includes Ejido. Such planning would provide for the sustainable use of the water, the enjoyment of the natural cloud forest scenery and the opportunity to offer the people of Ejido spaces that could increase their quality of life, which at present has been overwhelmed by surplus value and urban anarchy.
El Ecodiseño en un Modelo sistémico de sostenibilidad para el aprovechamiento de los residuos urbanos y rurales

From the philosophy of Ecodesign, we present a Model with unique characteristics that articulates for the first time the management of solid waste from urban centers, rural areas, and protected areas in the municipality with the issue of social housing, the recovery and humanization of public spaces. It also entails the conservation of river basins that supply urban centres. These areas also become natural spaces for the amusement and enjoyment of the citizens. The Model is a change of paradigm conceived to match Venezuela’s social, economical, environmental, and political realities. We project its application in the Alberto Adriani Municipality in Merida State (Venezuela). Nonetheless, we also project its use –adding the necessary variations, in other municipalities in different Latin American countries. We propose that the time has come to make decisions and assume shared responsibilities with the main actors of civil society who have the vision of a better tomorrow, which entails sustainability. The idea is to promote, starting with the management of solid waste, the creation of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises involving not only the consolidation of parochial gardens, but also the generation of sustainable products for house construction, furniture and crafts, and the conservation of river basins.
El ocio en las actividades educativas. Espacios arquitectónicos que facilitan el proceso de aprendizaje. Proyecto: campamento Aguas Bravas, Centro de Formación Medioambiental, Barinas, Venezuela

El presente trabajo expone una investigacion que tiene como objetivo general ser aplicada en el diseno arquitectonico del edificio sede central del conjunto “Campamento Aguas Bravas, Rafting Club” ubicado en el Estado Barinas, Venezuela. En ella se utiliza una metodologia que permitio desarrollar fundamentos teoricos como “la formacion ambiental vinculada al turismo sostenible, la arquitectura sostenible y la tecnologia de los materiales alternativos”, de los cuales se extraen los criterios de diseno aplicados en: la propuesta del conjunto, el desarrollo del proyecto arquitectonico y la propuesta paisajistica. Para ello, fue necesario realizar varias visitas de campo al terreno localizado en la cuenca media del rio Acequias, para definirlas caracteristicas fisico naturales, socio culturales, economico productiva del lugar. El proyecto desarrollado satisface los requerimientos academicos y las necesidades planteadas por el cliente Lic. Alejandro Buzzo, a traves de la integracion de las actividades productivas, turisticas, formativas y de sensibilizacion ambiental, que fueron abordadas de forma consensuada para potenciar el desarrollo local sostenible. Con ello, el proyecto puede servir de ejemplo para ser aplicado en otras areas rurales del estado y del pais, adaptandose y respetando las potencialidades de cada zona en particular, procurando como fin ultimo despertar la consciencia en la mayor cantidad de personas en funcion de generar acciones y estilos de vida que preserven el entorno natural, en paralelo al concepto de Ocio, algo mas que tiempo libre. Estudio de distribución espacial de la contaminación acústica en la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela

La contaminacion ambiental que se genera en las urbes modernas, han venido a ser una de las grandes preocupaciones de los procesos de planificacion y del diseno urbano en las ciudades, siendo la Ecologia Urbana, la ciencia que ha venido a resaltar esa problematica en procura de encontrar soluciones, entre otras, ajustadas a la legislacion, a las particularidades territoriales y socioculturales del lugar, asi como efectivas propuestas de solucion tecnica. Esta, ademas de abordar los conflictos ambientales que se suceden con la mala gestion de los vertidos, emisiones y residuos urbanos, el calor y el ruido, son aspectos tecnicos que han sido abordados de manera limitada en el ambito internacional y nacional. En ese sentido, la presente investigacion, viene a ser un importante aporte al estudio integral de la contaminacion sonica en el ambito urbano de la ciudad de Merida, ya que se ha realizado apenas un estudio sectorial en su zona norte, y el unico estudio global venezolano sobre ruido ambiental urbano, fue realizado bajo la tutoria de expertos estadounidenses en el municipio Chacao en el ano 2011, siendo este calificado, como el primer mapa municipal de ruido de Venezuela y de America Latina. Por ende, se resalta la importancia del trabajo, al ser referencia actualizada sobre la contaminacion sonica adaptando procedimientos metodologicos de los mas importantes estandares internacionales, el uso de Sistemas de Informacion Geografica, sonometros de alta calidad y un muestreo altamente significativo de un numero elevado de intersecciones viales mas representativos de la ciudad, pero en especial, la participacion de investigadores involucrados con la Universidad de Los Andes, procura ubicarse entre las primeras instituciones en investigar y desarrollar propuestas de solucion a este grave problema ambiental.

The socio-productive activities of the agriculture, livestock and tourist industries in rural settings in Venezuela have had a series of significant adverse impacts. This is particularly noticeable on the high mountain regions of the Andes that have experienced damages to the natural ecosystems and a loss of hereditary production and social practices and architectural concepts inherited to the region. The “Paramo de Marino” (Marino moorlands) is a palpable example of this. This is an area of exceptional natural beauty where valleys have generated small lakes and natural spaces that have stimulated touristic and recreational activities. Some examples of these are La Laguna Blanca and the Laguna Negra, (the White Lake and the Black Lake). In order to preserve and protect these spaces and their adjacent areas, we have used the environmental integrated design and the ecodesign approaches to propose the development of an ecological and recreational park including inns in this area. We also suggest that the area should be placed under a special administration regime (ABRAE: Area Bajo Regimen de Administracion Especial (ABRAE). Realising this project will bring together the people who live in the area, the civil society of the Tovar and Zea municipalities and the regional and national executives, all of which will guarantee the success of the project. Furthermore, the project will transcend further, as it will make possible the conservation of a natural habitat and promote the services it offers by using the income generated through the recreational activities and infrastructure which both ensure it sustainability.
