Una revisión sistemática(2016) Jormany Quintero; Geraldine Vivas; Lourdes Rey; R Carmen Teresa García; Stefani Araque; Yanira ZerpaIntroduction: Orthodontic treatment is often used to correct malocclusion; however, it can trigger alterations in periodontal tissues that cause the appearance of gingivitis and periodontitis. Studies concerning alterations associated orthodontic treatment have been carried out; nevertheless, a study that integrates the results of these studies has not been found. The purpose of this paper is to describe the periodontal tissue alterations in patients with orthodontic treatment. Methodology: Different sources of information were consulted: Medline through PubMed, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, SciELO. The selection of the studies involved patients no periodontally compromised to start orthodontic treatment, with no craniofacial anomalies, patients with fixed oral or lingual orthodontic and also patients who had completed treatment. Results: 60 studies were found which controlled clinical trials prevailed, cross-sectional studies and case-control studies also were found. The number of patients considered was 6342 of both sexes between 14.9 ± 4.5 and 27.8 ± 13.4 years old. The evidence shows that the trigger for periodontal disease is the accumulation of dental plaque due to the difficulty of brushing, favoring the emergence of periodontal alterations. Conclusions: It is suggested to comply with the protocol established for the orthodontic treatment, and promote educational campaigns in order to orientate the patient regarding the importance of good technique of brushing and oral hygiene.Item type: Item , Determinación voltamétrica de metilparabeno en productos cosméticos polvos compactos(2019) Geraldine Vivas; L R Reynaldo OrtizSe desarrollo una metodologia para la determinacion electroquimica de metilparabeno en formulaciones cosmeticas de polvos compactos, mediante la tecnica de Voltametria de pulso diferencial, utilizando como electrodo de trabajo un disco de carbon vitreo de 1cm2 de area geometrica y buffer fosfato 0,2 M (pH 7) como electrolito soporte. Se trabajo con tres formulaciones cosmeticas de polvos compactos (a, b y c). Se estudiaron las variables: velocidad de barrido, periodo de estabilidad, reproducibilidad e influencia de la concentracion en la intensidad de picos anodicos a traves de la tecnica de Voltametria ciclica. Para la oxidacion del metilparabeno, se observo un proceso de oxidacion irreversible controlado por difusion, en el intervalo de concentracion 1x10-4-1x10-3 M; la sensibilidad fue 12,63x10-3 L∙mol-1, el limite de deteccion 4,04x10-4 mol∙L-1 y el limite de cuantificacion 1,35x10-4 mol∙L-1. Los resultados del analisis fueron correlacionados estadisticamente y por estudios de recuperacion de cada uno de los polvos compactos obteniendose 89,8% ±0,8; 76,0%±4,5; 69,2%±3,1 respectivamente. El metodo voltametrico fue facil de implementar, de bajo costo y preciso para la determinacion del metilparabeno en productos cosmeticos.
