Item type: Item , DETERMINAR EL USO DE LA CITOLOGÍA ORAL COMO MEDIO DE DIAGNÓSTICO EN LA FACULTAD DE ODONTOLOGÍA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LOS ANDES MERIDA VENEZUELA.(2013) Elsy Jerez; Reina Zerpa; Carlos Javier Omaña CepedaAny pathology begins at the cellular level representing morphological or functional changes, so it is very important the use of techniques for observing such changes and lead to an early diagnosis and treatment. Oral exfoliative cytology is defined as the study and interpretation of the character of the cells that are shed naturally or artificially, from the oral mucosa. Consists microscopically observe the morphology of the surface epithelial cells after collection, fixation and staining. It is a simple, non-invasive, relatively painless and well accepted by patients. Made a research is descriptive and transactional design field with quantitative approach, the sample consisted of teachers who work in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Los Andes that met the inclusion criteria, we used a survey to collect data with closed answers questions directed to teachers sampled, which addressed the oral cytology used by them and their students as a means of diagnosis of oral lesions. It was observed that oral cytology is used with very low frequency as diagnosed technique, as is little encouraged by teachers, and in some cases it is not known .. To conclude the literature indicates that oral cytology is an important means of early diagnosis of oral premalignant lesions, because this is important to apply as a means of diagnosis in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Los Andes.Item type: Item , Gel de Quitosano inyectable como bioestimulador cutáneo en ratas sprague dawley(Universidad Internacional de La Rioja, 2021) Carmen Marichales; Reina Zerpa; Anajulia González Betancourt; Gladys Josefina Velazco ViloriaAging, scars and a number of defects that appear on the face can affect the patient physically and psychologically. Currently, the use of orofacial filling biomaterials has become common. The pharmaceutical industry proposes new products every year, however, the search for the ideal biomaterial still continues. Chitosan is a natural biocompatible and biodegradable biopolymer that exhibits regenerative properties. It can be considered a therapeutic alternative for aging and tissue loss. It was proposed to analyze the injectable chitosan gel as a cutaneous biostimulator in Sprague dawley rats. An experimental study was carried out in 43 adult male rats divided into: experimental group A (n = 20 animals), control group B (n = 20 animals) and control / control group C (n = 3 animals). The material was infiltrated into the back of each animal via the intradermal route. Group A was infiltrated with 0.05 ml of chitosan gel, group B with 0.05 ml of hyaluronic acid and group C did not receive any material. Follow-up was done, at the fourth and eighth week, 10 animals from groups A and B and 1 from group C were sacrificed for taking histopathological samples. It was concluded that the injectable chitosan gel does not generate alterations in the behavior of the animals and produces the formation of a nodule in the infiltrated area. On microscopic examination, it behaves as a damaging agent that produces a chronic exacerbated inflammatory response and a foreign body granuloma-like reaction.Item type: Item , Prevalencia de maloclusiones en niños del jardín de infancia de la Escuela Bolivariana “Juan Ruiz Fajardo”(2014) Elsy Jerez; Reina Zerpa; E C María Salas; Yanet Claret Simancas Pereira; Yajaira Romero BarreraThe aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of dental malocclusion in preschool children from Kindergarten to the Bolivarian School “Juan Ruiz Fajardo of Merida, Venezuela. We performed a cross-sectional study whose population consisted of 120 children between 3 and 6 years of age , of both genders. Clinical examination was performed with the child seated facing the examiner, using natural light and tongue depressors. The data obtained in the oral examination were recorded on Form Oral Health and degree of malocclusion was recorded according to the methodology described by the World Health Organization. It was observed that 54.9% of the study population had malocclusion which 47.1 % had moderate or severe malocclusion and 7.8 % slight malocclusion . It is concluded that due to a high percentage of dental malocclusion poblnacion has examined it is necessary to plan and execute preventive orthodontic treatment in order to achieve normal development of occlusion.
