El presente trabajo propone el uso de la transferencia positiva como técnica para mejorar las dificultades en el aprendizaje de una segunda lengua. Es por eso que nuestro objetivo principal es analizar y solucionar estas dificultades dando algunas alternativas que cambien el modo de enseñanza del inglés como segunda lengua. Este trabajo esta dirigido a estudiantes de nivel inicial que quieran aprender el inglés como segundo idioma, el número de participantes en esta investigación se determinó de acuerdo con la población del colegio Instituto Americano de Obrajes. Con una metodología quasi-experimental en la que existen dos grupos, uno experimental en el que se aplica la técnica de transferencia positiva, y otro será el grupo control. La muestra de nuestra investigación es de un 30% de la población de todo el colegio en ese momento. El objetivo principal es averiguar si esta técnica puede mejorar el nivel de asimilación del inglés de los estudiantes de nivel inicial. El marco teórico es sustentado en los métodos de enseñanza de segunda lenguas como el método comunicativo en el que se basa esta investigación. La técnica de transferencia positiva se aplicó bajo este método y se evalúa a través de las habilidades comunicativas. Los resultados finales muestran un incremento significativo de un 26% aproximadamente en el nivel de asimilación de la segunda lengua (inglés), en contraste con el grupo control. Debido a esto podemos concluir que los resultados de la investigación son satisfactorios.

This research proposes the use of positive transfer approach to help initial level students with Spanish as mother tongue in learning English as a second language. The main objective is to analyze and solve some difficulties students could have in the learning process of the second language. The method uses in this work is the quasi experimental and takes first courses of primary of American Institute of Obrajes. They are approximately 30% of the whole school students. They are divided in two groups, the first one the experimental in which the approach will be applied, and the second the control group that will continue with the traditional method. The period of this part of the research takes two trimesters and the final trimester is to be used for evaluation. The theoretical framework is sustained on second language teaching methods like communicative method in which the present research is based; the positive transfer approach is evaluated through the four main communicative skills to prove the level of improvement in assimilation of the experimental group. The research begins with the observation to find the common problems teaching English inside classes. The second point is the application of questionnaires to English teachers and class teachers. Through the results of this questionnaire we continue with the planning of syllabus in coordination with class teachers. The final results of the project are significant about 26% of improvement in second language level of assimilation.
