This paper shows a study of eleven reinforced concrete buildings, located along the terrace of the city of Merida, with a height of four stories which is considered representative of medium height buildings in the city. The technique used was that of microtremor measurements. The microtremor measurements were carried out at the fourth and first floors of each building. Fourier spectra were determined for the signals of the three channels used, located one in the longitudinal direction of the building (CH1), the other in the transverse direction (CH3) and the third in the vertical direction (CH2); Fourier espectral ratios were obtained between fourth and first floors and in addition, Nakamura ratios were also determined. As a result of the three techniques used, structural fundamental periods in a range from 0.17 to 0.30 seconds were obtained. To study the possibble occurrence of resonance, these results were compared to periods obtained from previous microtemor measurements conducted to the soil of the city (Montilla, 1998 ; Hernandez et al, 1998). In consecuence, it is expected that some of the buildings of Merida with characteristics similar to those studied in this work, might suffer the effect of resonance.
