Using thicker film thermocouple the piston temperature on a CFR engine was measured. The temperature readings were accomplished with a telemetric system to carry the signal from the piston to the acquisition unit. A range of fuel/air equivalence ratio between 0.88 to 1.28 was used to do the temperature measurements. Temperature data with and without combustion on piston surface and underneath intake and exhaust valve area was analyzed. The experiments without combustion showed temperature changes due only to compression effects. During the combustion experiments the higher temperature increase proper to the process itself showed the strong relationship with the fuel/air mixture. The thermocouple design allow to see the mean temperature during the engine cycle but the combustion process characteristics.
