| dc.description.abstract | The research project entitled “EVALUATION OF THREE TYPES OF ROOTING HORMONES IN THE AXIAL PROPAGATION OF SEA BONE (Hippophae rhamnoides Linn.)” was carried out at the Cota Cota experimental station in the city of La Paz, Bolivia. The aim was to obtain seedlings propagated by cuttings and to determine the appropriate substrate type, in conjunction with synthetic hor- mones, to propagate the species more efficiently. Six treatments were proposed, along with two substrate types (peat + rice hulls 2:1) and (peat + sawdust 2:1), and three synthetic hormones: Roo Thor, Rapid Root, and Parque. The highest number of roots was obtained with treatment T5 (A2*B2), which yielded 5.33 roots. The average root length, 10.53 cm, was obtained with treatment T6. In general, no differences were found in the effects of synthetic hormones across all treatments; therefore, their use is not recommended due to the cost. Production costs determined that for treatments T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, and T6, each plant cost Bs. 0.48, 0.68, 0.55, 0.35, 0.35, and 0.39 to produce. This resulted in a benefit-cost ratio (B/C) of 1.30 per treatment, which is accep- table and greater than one. Treatments T4 and T5 showed the lowest production costs. The experiment was evaluated using a randomized block design with a factorial arrangement of two factors and three replicates, resulting in 18 experimental units. The variables evaluated were: days to sprouting, number of sprouts, number of rooted cuttings, number of leaves, root length, height of the main shoot, and number of roots per cutting. | |
