Gold mineral samples from El Callao, Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, are hetted between 400 and 1000°C previous to cyanidation. The composition of a standard sampleis: Au 8.24 gr/ton, Fe 7.76%, Zn 0, 0184%, S 3,23%, SiO2 70,3%. The range of variation of the factors studied is: haCN concentration 0,2 to 1,6 gr/lt , mgr of NaCN by gr of mineral 0.6 to 6.0, grain size -20 to -270 mesh, time of cyanidation 0 to 10 hours, heating time prior to cyanidation up to 6 hr. Heating previous cyanidation of the mineral at a temperature near 800°C allows a gold recovery in the order of 90% for a grain size smaller than 60 mesh.
