A tooth whitening solution was electrochemically synthesized performed using a galvanostatic electrolysis. A cell of two compartments separated by a Nafion membrane was employed; Platinum mesh was used as working electrode and a stainless steel ring as a counter-electrode, the electrolytic solution was composed by a mixture of sodium carbonate / sodium bicarbonate 130g / L / 25g / L respectively and sodium borate (borax ) 40g / L. The solution was electrolyzed for 6 hours applying a constant current of 60 mA and then titrated with 0.1N KMnO4. The electrolysis allowed obtaining a solution of sodium perborate with a concentration of 9.7% P / V. To check the bleaching efficiency of the solution, 30 extracted teeth pigmented in coffee were used. To verify the innocuousness of the solution on the tooth surface, the samples were observed by optical microscopy. The results were observed through frequency registers and photographs, significant differences in the color of the teeth before and after whitening were observed. It was concluded that the solution obtained was effective for tooth whitening and harmless for the adamantine surface.
