One of the concepts that requires in-depth analysis in terms of the relationship between nature and society is that of “community”, since it has different meanings, depending on the discipline from which it is approached. Biologically speaking, communities are groups of populations that share the same habitat, in addition to the interactions that occur in that space. From the sociocultural point of view, the community, as mentioned by Arturo Escobar (2010), is established as a process of relationship between the “territory-region” with local political, scientific and economic movements, in defense of life. This indicates the interdisciplinary value of this concept for its understanding and practical application.
