dc.description.abstractIn the last few years, security and personal safety havebecome constitutive and central elements of bothbogotanos everydayness and emergent modalities ofgovernance that have marked the recentmetamorphosis of the Colombian capital. Such acentrality of security and personal safety posessignificant challenges for analyzing urban life and theexperiences of the Bogotá of the late 20th and early21st century. This article seeks to contribute to thatanalysis. For this purpose, it examines ethnographicmodalities for studying urban governance and securityas salient phenomena of the contemporary world. Thearticle combines fieldwork stories and conceptualstatements concerning the anthropological enterprise.Through this combination, the article puts forward amulti-sited ethnography in time, space and narrative,as the modality per excellence for analyzing urbangovernance and security as anthropological objectsof study and as saliente phenomena in thecontemporary world
