Abstract
One of the biggest problems of Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is the difficulty to access financing. The present paper has the objective to propose a financing strategy for SMEs in the city of Cochabamba through investment portfolio in the Stock Exchange as a financing alternative to the banking system. The present investigation is a "descriptive" study, as it is focused in describing situations, indicating how they perform in a certain situation. The Bolivian Stock Exchange represents an optimal financing alternative for companies that meet the requirements and are inside the SME index required by the institution to issue Stocks in the Stock Exchange. The financing through the Bolivian Stock Exchange provides more favorable conditions than offered by traditional sources, besides that the required guarantees are lower.
