This article shows the results of an investigation conducted within a group of participants of the Introductory Course (Period A-2016) of the School of Law of the Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences of the Universidad de Los Andes (Merida,Venezuela). It was proposed to explore and to analyze the process of intellectual affiliation of freshmen in the matters of reading and writing their academic discourse, and to demonstrate how they transit through to the academic world in order to intellectually affiliate to the academic culture. The experience consisted in asking the freshmen to write their reflections and to express their experiences as readers and writers before entering the university, and during the development of the classes of Literature and methodology of the study. This allowed - at the same time- to show and to analyze the transit or passage in the times of alienation and learning, reflected by the participants in their written reflections. It is concluded that this process of intellectual affiliation must be guided by the teacher of each course; to allow in the participants to intellectually join the academic culture.
