Abstract
Until 1975, 60% of Bolivia's territory was covered by different types of forest. These forests contained most of the country's rich biodiversity. During the 1990s and the first decade of the 21st century, deforestation has been accelerating rapidly. Those responsible for deforestation are emerging as stakeholder groups and consolidating their position.
