This article investigates the meaning of a sistemic, interactionist, and dialectic thought about animation, which is known in many countries as “sociocultural”, or “social”, but whihc originates from the professional animation developed in France from the 1960s. It is an epistemologic, scientific, and theoretical approach, based on an almost six-month long research internship in Latin America and then Europe, which allowed for the construction of a comprehensive analysis of the place of animation in the current context. KEYWORDS: coordination – urbanization phenomenon – hyper-specialization – new technologies – globalization
