Narrativas de identidad: De la nación mestiza a los recientes desplazamientos de la metáfora social

Abstract

Este ensayo afirma que la construcción de la "nación" estuvo ligada a narrativas (novelas y ensayos) de identidad. Las primeras narrativas identitarias, que elaboraron importantes metáforas como la del "mestizaje ideal", controlaron celosamente el ascenso social del indígena. Después de regimentar al indio bajo la férrea noción tamayana de la "pedagogía nacional", Sanjinés procede a "desterritorializar" la identidad idealizada de lo mestizo desde tres nuevas versiones que la dan fluidez a la metáfora social: la "metáfora del río", la de la "avalancha de la plebe" y la del "anfibio cultural".

This essay contends that the construction of the "nation" was linked to narratives (novels and essays) of identity. The first identity narratives, which created important metaphors such as that of "ideal mestizaje", zealously controlled the social ascent of indigenous people. After discussing the regimentation of the Indian under Franz Tamayo's stringent notion of "national pedagogy", Sanjinés proceeds to "deterritorialise" idealised mestizo identity using three new concepts that give fluidity to the social metaphor: that of the "avalanche of the masses", that of the "cultural amphibian" and that of the "river metaphor".
