Factores de riesgo de Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas en niños menores de 5 años en Bolivia
Abstract
Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) constitute the pathologies most frequently consulted in primary health care in infants. Therefore, the objective of the research was to determine the factors that influence the incidence of ARI in children under 5 years of age who live in the Villa Exaltación de Enequella Canton in Bolivia. It is an explanatory research of identification and characterization of factors, with a quantitative approach. The intentional sample consisted of 16 mothers and 28 children under 5 years of age with a diagnosis of ARI in the Health Center office. A higher incidence of ARI was found in children under 2 years of age. Mothers have little knowledge about the symptoms to identify ARI and the danger signs. 75% of mothers do not take their children for a check-up and do not comply with the vaccination program. It is concluded that the factors that influence the appearance of ARI in children under five are: socioeconomic conditions, hygiene in the home, lack of knowledge about prevention measures and adequate treatment of ARI.
