Datos sobre la r asibilada en Venezuela
Abstract
In spite of the fact that in the literature on dial ectology, Venezuela is not recorded as one of the Spanish-speaking countries where sibilant-r occ urs, this sound does occur among speakers of the Andes region in the State of Merida (southwestern part of the country). The corpus collected allows us to state the following: a) [ ř ] is a realization of both and /r/, including c lusters, excepting br . b) From the articulatory point of view is an apic o-postalveolar fricative consonant. When in a cluster, [ ] and the preceding obstruent combine in such a way that they coalesce into an affricate. c) Acoustically, it is characterized by an irregula r spreading of energy in the high frecuencies. The greatest intensity is found in the area of F2, except in clusters, where it is found around F4, the spectrum being similar to that of an affricate. The LPC contour looks like an upside down V.
