dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The Veterinary Dentistry is a biomedical speciality which is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases present in the oral cavity of animals. The purpose of this review is to describe the diseases and more frequent treatments of the oral cavity in farm animals, domestic and captive. Relevant aspects of the Veterinary Dentistry, are presented to provide quality information, to achieve a greater interest with respect to the health of animals. This review of the literature is based on studies published in the past 45 years. Development: The review made to farm, domestic and captive animals, found that the most common pathology of horses is the tip of the enamel; in sheep the excessive wear of incisors; Walruses and hippo tooth wear; Reptiles, dogs and cats is Periodontal disease; Beaver bad occlusion and Chinchillas elongation of Crowns on posterior teeth. Conclusion: It is recommended that dentists and veterinarians work together as there is no academic training for the specialty of Veterinary Dentistry and also make missing that more studies be carried out not only with pathologies and treatments more frequently if not with other diseases affecting the oral cavity of animals.
