The colonial settlement for the extraction of pearls, Nuestra Señora Santa María de los Remedios del Cabo de la Vela was founded during the first half of the 16thXVI century. The study has focused to determine if segregationist practices occurred between contact groups in this type of Spanish location. Although the Spanish Crown imposed policies of spatial division and control of different socio-cultural groups within the colony, preliminary results suggest that these not always became effective. https://doi.org/10.22380/2539472X20
