Abstract
Sulfur levels were determined as a precursor of SO2, deposited in the Port of Guayaquil, by comparing areas where 19 passive samplers were placed, during the dry season 2016 and rainy 2017, to calculate the rates of atmospheric deposition in mangrove ecosystems through the use of ion exchange resins and describe a map with QGIS, as well as the category of land use, obtaining the average critical load of 3,35 kg S ha-1 year-1, a value that shows a homogeneous distribution of sulfur, plus deficit extreme values between 5,014 and 9,50 kg S ha-1 year-1 in the dry season and 3,30 and 6,13 kg S ha-1 year-1 in the rainy season, in sensitive areas such as the mangrove ecosystems within the interior estuary of the Gulf of Guayaquil.
