dc.description.abstractThe stomatognathic system constitutes a unit morphofunctional integrated and coordinated, comprised the set of structures skeletal muscle, vascular, nerve, gland and dental, organized around the facial skull and vertebral joints. The maxillary bones represent important components of the face, being dynamic structures undergoing processes permanently skeleton of remodeled bone. However, the balance between resorption and bone apposition can be altered by effects of age, mechanical or traumatic factors, infectious, hormonal, genetic, vascular, nutritional disorders, neoplasms, among others, thus causing the appearance of pathologies, to establish the correct diagnosis in any type of bone disorder, is essential to have full clinical, radiographic and histological background and, on certain occasions with evolution. This analysis has as main objective the description of the clinical features of the most common bone pathologies affecting the oral cavity, knowledge of which allows a better diagnosis and consequently a better treatment plan.
