Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the academic experience of the Real Seminario de San Buenaventura de Merida with the granting of the Royal Decree of 1806, which gave this educational institution the right to award majors and minors degrees. The first major degrees were conferred in 1808. In 1810 the Junta Gubenativa Defensora de los Derechos de Ferdinando VII, extended that right by Royal Decree, awarding the name Real Universidad de San Buenaventura de Merida de los Caballeros
